My man is now the owner of a modern-fit suit also known as the male version of the yoga pant. We went shopping recently and after trying many on, he decided on The One. The suit which will henceforth be referred to as a/the MYP (Male Yoga Pant).

| How am I supposed to focus on the Spirit when he is wearing this? |
Because of that, and because this is my space, I will therefore share my thoughts and a rebuttal of sorts despite being 4 years late to the conversation.
This all came up because I couldn't control my thoughts with David in his MYP. Therefore I've decided to share some modesty myths, the male version.
#1 Myth of Modesty: It's her job not to look
Men, you are responsible for the pants you put on, therefore you are responsible for the way we as women respond to said pants. The amount of lust I have is directly related to how much of your body is available to lust after. The less you advertise, the less opportunity you give me to covet your body.
Any time I attend church, I am bombarded with impure thoughts because all of the men are wearing suit pants. Some of you are even wearing skinny ties and 2-button suit jacket. How am I supposed to be able to resist that? And then sometimes there are even cuff links. It's too much guys.
Not one single man wears carpenter jeans which are pretty much the only acceptable form of bottoms a man can wear and be modest. I mean, when you sit down guys, I can't help but take notice of what's happening in your pants. And when you're teaching Sunday School and that soft, often thin fabric sits close against your skin, how am I supposed to not think about that huge...tin of breath mints in your pocket?
It is not just our job not to look: it is your responsibility to provide nothing provocative to look at. You cannot blame women for what you instigate, and it is time for men of God to start acknowledging your responsibility in this matter, taking up your cross, and honoring God with your dress..

Stick with your 90's suits guys. They are more appropriate and more aligned with church standards than today's fitted suits.
#2 Myth of Modesty: Setting Standards Is Legalistic
I don't want you men to email me and tell me that you wore a suit one Sunday and it was NBD. I realize that it is not my job to write your personal standards of modesty. But since we are on the topic of MYPs, let me share some things my friend commented to me when I was writing this post:
“MYPs make it difficult to focus on the spirit when the boys are right there and the pants are so tight, it’s basically like the guy is naked. A friend of mine even said when a man wears a MYP … it shows all the form and features while covering up flaws, like imperfections of the skin or a possible lack of abs. They are designed to be appealing.”Additionally, a young woman in a female group I once taught upheld this view. She told us it was tough for her to attend church activities where there are guys wearing suits, setting up tables right beside her. It was a struggle not to lust after them. She would have to make herself leave the vicinity to do her own setting up with the still-present threat of remembering their image and stumbling later on. Yet another friend told me that it pained and concerned her that her boyfriend would go to the church in his suit to work with the Primary President, but she didn’t feel she could ask him to stop without being perceived as controlling.
What is the real issue here?
Is it what not to wear? In our hearts we know it isn’t. It’s a standard of
behavior, not a standard of dress, that is ultimately missing from your lives
when you fail to be modest.
Mark 1:6
And John was clothed with camel’s hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;
Because John was an apostle and in the scriptures we should follow his example. John wants men to dress
with ‘camel hair and a girdle of skin about his loins…' as appropriate for men who profess to worship
God (like him). This high calling to be a man like unto John (who is an apostle) is to be your standard of behavior, which directly influences your standard of dress. It calls you to be different from the trends, the
culture, and the leanings of the modern church. It
calls you to align your spiritual life with your outward life in all things,
willing to make personal sacrifices in order to do so.
Setting standards is not legalistic. Saying
that modesty is required in order to be saved is legalistic, and regulating
others rather than looking into your own hearts is legalistic. Many men spend a lot more time telling
the women of the church to quit looking and the other men in the church to quit
dressing the way they do, and they never evaluate their own closets.#3 Myth of Modesty: Women don't care what I wear
We do care. We care deeply.
On a simple level, we like pretty things. We notice when you get an undercut or sport a pompadour. We like when you wear your chucks and cuffed jeans. We like nice things and we like when you wear them.
Because of this, you have a great power. You have the power to draw our eyes toward you for one of two reasons:
This leads me to my next point.
- For the appeal of our desire based on revealing enough of your bodies to entice us; or
- To appear attractive in personality as reflected in how you dress.
This leads me to my next point.
#4 Myth of Modesty: Lust is HER Problem
Lust is a rampant problem in the church and in our culture. Most often lust is addressed with men, but it is also a major issue in the lives of women. It simply looks different for women than it does for men. For women, it looks like a man in a suit.
Lust is a
desire for that which is not ours to have: the body of a person who does not
belong to us. When a woman ogles a man’s chest, legs, or derriere, she is
focusing on the parts of him that are not hers, and yet she takes them visually
and mentally, cheapening the man and demeaning herself. That is not
appreciation: that is lust.
When you give into your desire to for a woman’s attention, at the expense
of her endeavor to honor God, you are giving in to the lust of your flesh
and encouraging the lust of her eyes.
#5 Myth of Modesty: Modesty is Just Something I Do
“The more you cover up the more [a Christian woman] will want you. Women like some mystery, and when you reveal that mystery walking down the aisle in church, there is no reason for them to pursue you. They’ve already gotten their reward.” – My anonymous friend
Do you like to reward women with a glimpse of your body? Cause you aren't hiding much when you wear that modern suit, especially with a skinny tie. We can see all that ab.
Your choice in what you wear to church is a clear reflection of your openness to allowing God and his word affect your life. It's a bold statement. But it's true.
When you stubbornly resist the call to cover up and wear your 90's minimalist suit, you reveal hearts that have misplaced priorities. You reveal your desire to be trendy over your desire to obey.
Modesty affects us. It affects us greatly. It affects how you are perceived, how you are respected, how you advance in your careers, and even whether you will hear the word yes to a request for a date or a marriage proposal.
When you dress in a way that causes a woman to lust, you create an unnecessary war against her soul.
Think about that for a moment.
Dressing in the way God commands – with modesty, propriety, and decency – protects the women around you from waging a needless war in their souls. When you REFUSE to accept your responsibility to protect your sisters – our brother's wives and and daughters – from lust, you are creating a war and inciting unrest in the church.
Yes, it is the responsibility of us women to turn our eyes away. So entrust us to the Lord and let Him deal with our responsibilities while you concern yourselves with your own. I am asking you to join forces with the men around you in this endeavor.
I want to trust myself around you and I want you to trust your wives and girlfriends around my husband. Sunday, August 6, 2017
Like I did. I started this post 2 years ago (no joke) but never finished it. These are the 10 movies that as an adult, I still think about when I'm afraid. Today in a group someone posted an image asking for members to share a gif of a movie that traumatized them. Here are all 10 of mine.
1) Never Ending Story:

That dog still haunts me today.
2) The Wizard of Oz:

As if a creepy witch wasn't enough. They have the Wizard and his loud voice and the Oompa Loompas. It's too much!
3) The TV version of any Chucky movie.
via GIPHY
I dont know how my sister and I got so lucky as to be home alone with that on, but we were glued to the tv although it was still psycho. No wonder we are the way we are. I was about 9 when I watched my first one.
4) The Pelican Brief

Maybe we should change the title of this to movies I shouldn't have watched as a kid. Lol.
5) All Dogs Go to Heaven

I honestly only remember being traumatized by this movie. Not that it was scary, just really depressing,

8) True Crime
This was another USA or Lifetime movie. I just rewatched part of it. It's really really really scary. Not good.
10) E. Freaking T.

I'm super excited about the new year! It might not even be the new year where you live but here in 2017 in Italy...my goals are well underway!
After watching the amazing show outside on our terrace, we went inside to snuggle and warm up in bed. David promptly fell asleep but shhhh... don't tell him I told you. I walked downstairs stepping over my bras on the stairs and all the toys I tried to hide from my bff and her daughter who is spending the night.
I grabbed this computer, a small amount of diet soda (I'm trying to quit) and this computer. How convenient it is that I'm on episode 25 of Season 2 of PLL! Great timing self! So that's on currently and I'm trying to settle the dog chasing her tail wildly. We are borrowing a neighbors dog for a little while in hopes we can convince the kids we don't want one. She goes crazy trying to get her tail.
Omg. The scene in this episode with the shower! Great little Hitchcock reference there! And the motel... so awesome. Good job PLL! I don't need you to judge me. If you watch PLL, please tell me and I'll be your bff. I think I'm gonna do a contest for all my frens who also love this show which means I'll probably have 5 contestants.
ANYWAY! That was a lot of pre-information. What I'm here to say is, I'm back bitches! I think that makes too many Pretty Little Liars references. I'm done.
For real though, I'm gonna get my groove even more back!
I feel pretty successful with what I've done in 2016! I thought about listing a few of them. I won't.
Let me tell you a story though. We had our family pictures taken in November. When we got them back I was prepared to hate them (because of my weight). I didn't though! I really actually loved every single one of them. (Thanks Katie @ Freckled Photos!) Even the ones with my double chins and all! This to me is the BIGGEST deal of all. And then, and THEN! Despite a little bit of apprehension, I ordered Christmas cards with a full body shot on them and sent them out. Well, some of them. I don't have all the addresses yet. I look at it like I get to carry over these positive loving feelings into the new year. I also look at it like I'm blessing the people who get them late. lol. jk. Eeeee. It feels so good friends! I mean, it is the most freeing experience I've ever had in so very long! Go me!
This is the first step to change. I've known it for awhile and I've said it but I haven't really felt it about myself. Here's to more love in 2017!!!
P.S. Speaking of love, who is watching The Bachelor starting January 2nd? 💓💓💓#TheBachelorNick

Family is big on my mind these days maybe for less obvious reasons than you know. However, that's not important. What is important is the realization I had the other day about my uncle. He taught me everything I know about everything cool!
My paternal grandma and my mom were pregnant at the same time. So my older sister and my uncle are the same age which was and is really fun. I had 2 working parents so as a school-aged child I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time at my grandma's house. Eric (this uncle), who was older at the time, was the only one home during this period of life. My aunt Amy had a room there too I think, but she was away in NYC or somewhere else exotic. Plus, her room was off limits. Lol.
The other day I was at my friends house and she had a newer Archie comic book and I swear I traveled right back in time to my uncle's room where he had stacks of comics (Dick Tracy or Mad anyone?). I would read when he wasn't home. I wasn't always sneaky. He was often really nice and would willingly let me borrow his stuff. He always let me play his Sega and Nintendo which in turn prompted me to ask Santa for one. I got a Sega Genesis and Sonic the Hedgehog became my best friend.
I've never given any meaning to my love of Hot Wheels cars until now really. My uncle had quite the collection. My most favorite game, and still is, is to park them in rows so perfectly and so neatly. Then I would remove one car and another one would come park in its spot.
When we got together as an extended family and lots of other cousins came (the perks of living in Utah and being Mormon), we would often play Ghostbusters in the basement. Eric, my sister, Andy and Dusty always got first pick of who they would be because they were older. Lame. Laundry detergent turned into ghost repellent, and hockey sticks became weapons.
Posters of Hulk Hogan and Karl Malone hung on his wall and because of that (and watching fights/games), I know who those people are. We also played basketball video games so I gleaned some knowledge there.
As I grew older, his interests shifted, as did mine. I remember the era of Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey and The Duet. It was obvious who would sing which part.
I remember the first time I saw that part in the first Scream movie that makes you wanna vomit. I was way too young to be watching it. But my uncle, who was obviously looking out for me, fast-forwarded through most of the movie which was on VHS of course, and only showed me the most scary parts.
We moved away and only came back to visit sometimes and when we did, it was always the same amount of fun with him. We have continued to wrestle our way through the years and play just as hard. I miss him and these memories.

I have this whole separate idea for a blog post that involves the different types of Black Friday shoppers. Let's be honest, I probably won't get around to it until this next Black Friday however, I fit into each category of shopper, well, I used to.
Now, I live in Germany where commercialism is at a minimum (at least where we live) and I love it!
We went to the PX that day though, to get Chelsi a smokin' deal on a computer which she really needed. We went in the afternoon and it was still busy but not like I'm sure it was in the morning. I also bought batteries for this super cool Santa decoration my mom gave me a long time ago. It's super cool. I want you to see it. I'll take a pic.
I tried not to look at advertisements because I knew I'd get sucked back in. I love a good sale!
Also, I have a man cold. This is no regular cold. This is a I-want-to-lay-on-the-couch-and-complain kind of cold AKA a man cold. I'm trying not to let it get the best of me but it's sort of winning. Again, definitition of man-cold.
Living in Europe is amazing. I try hard not to brag about it too much but this season (Christmas) allows for so many new traditions for us. Christmas markets, advent, and St. Nicholas Day being a few (although I'm not sure I'm doing the latter because I don't want to have to buy extra candy lol).
Remember how last year I didn't get to see Mockingjay OR go to Christmas markets? Guess what I will be doing this year? Both of those things. Woot.
Anyway, this is a bunch of non-sense because I'm trying to stick with that goal of mine to post at least twice a week. Today is my last day before my blogging week starts. Therefore, you are welcome. Just kidding. What do you look forward to most this holiday season?

If you are nearish the age of 30, you were probably old enough to understand the Harry Potter Phenomenon. You were also probably old enough to take part in it too.
Harry Potter is central to my memories of high school, college and afterwards too.
I don't remember picking up the first book but I remember putting down that last and crying so hard about it too. Do you remember reading the last page of the 7th book? If so, we are best friends. Like, really. Automatically we become besties. It's a given.
I remember playing the Harry Potter card game at lunches and sometimes even during class (sorry Mrs. Sherwood). I remember tournaments with Tracy and Matt. I remember in-depth discussions about how to say Hermione and Voldemort. I remember making t-shirts for movie premieres and late night talks afterwards. I remember the tears over characters and their choices and in some cases, their deaths.
Harry Potter is the single most consistent piece of media that went with me through those difficult high school years, into college and afterwards into marriage. There's nothing else like that for us! Kids these days (lol) don't get to grow along side of their favorite characters like we did. We literally grew up with Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) and Rupert Grint (Ron). (Did you see this is coming soon?)
Anyway, I have some friends who have The Love like I do. But they aren't near me. And I am sad. I haven't met anyone in Germany who loves Harry Potter as much as I do. I'm thinking about starting an official Harry Potter Book Club for People Living in Germany. Is that too long of a title? There's already this group but I'd like to have a chapter here. Wanna join?

I told David I went to bed early last night. It was 12:30. I was watching #pll and my Netflix stopped working and I took that as a sign (as if my unwillingly shutting eyes weren't enough) that I should go to bed. So I did. And I slept so solid. Amazing.
Here are some pictures because that's what I do.
The kids wanted to watch this. So we started it. A friend came over to play with Sadie and she asked us to not watch it without her. So Jackson and I started watching Holes which is Chelsi's favorite movie. I forgot that it was so good and that Shia LaBeouf is in that movie. He is a baby child in it. ha.
So, these items are for the Super Saturday we have coming up but the kids have found such a great use for them. I think I know what I'm getting them for Christmas! And it's going to be cheap. lol
Weiden got a doughnut shop! WHAT? It's like a legit one. Not just baked goods, but mostly doughnuts/donuts? There was a consistent line of people when we were there which is why I could not get an artistic picture without people in it.
We love Peter! He turned 1! We loved going to his party with the baby pinata and the cake and the fun! We love these people!
So we went to get David's official DA photo. And I caught this gem. It was pure luck! There was no posing for this. I watched him for a minute as he was practicing his parade rest and his salute. So cute.
That's all. I'm on the season finale of season 4 of Pretty Little Liars. Don't judge me. What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

You've heard the hype, you've probably seen an ad or two in your newsfeed. You've heard the drama about this movie. The New York Times says the film ",,,displays enough nutty writing and sheer brio to confirm the stamina of its enduring and skillfully voiced characters." We figured since it is Valentines Day we should go see something appropriate to the holiday. So we went and we watched the new Spongebob movie.
I kind of secretly hate this holiday because it offends my crunchy granola heart but then I ALWAYS give in the commercialism. Even when I'm in one of the least commercial (it seems) country. I totally bought presents for the people in my house. But they weren't heart shaped chocolates or pink. Wait, yes some of them were. But anyway, I did put thought into them. Does that count? And I also was on the receiving end. David and the kids made me the most adorable card I've ever experienced. I promise. He went through the effort of buying two different kinds of paper (one of them was gold!) and they freaking cut hearts out of the red paper. They glued it, they colored it, they wrote in it, and my heart is so full. Nevermind the candy and the flowers... which are also awesome, it's totally the thought that counts. David was telling me tonight that he told Jackson not to draw "boy hearts". And Jackson wondered what those were. So he told Jackson and Sadie both to draw a heart and after that it was pretty clear what a boy heart is.
So then we just spent the day together. We were planning on having a grand adventure and were thinking the train, an overnight stay somewhere, etc. We took an exceptionally long time getting ready and by the time we left, we were tired. So we decided to surprise the kids with the movie! They were thrilled and we were relieved. After that we drove up to Parkstein (my new favorite place) and took in the awesome albeit cold view. The sun was shining and the sky was a pinkish purple for a minute. It reminded me of Paulden America and although my hands were freezing, my soul was warm. I take for granted spending time with my little family. We don't get a lot of time together because there are always things happening. And even when we are altogether, it's never for very long. So this extended moment was really great.
We came home and Chelsi graciously offered to keep the kids while we went to eat. We drove across the street to a "Mexican" restaurant. I apologize my dear Germans for the quotes. You don't deserve it, but you kind of do. As an Arizonan, I'm afraid you don't know how to do Mexican. However, you tried!
We had Nachos Supreme. They were basically spicy Doritos, with 4! different! dips! There was the mayo (yes mayo), sour cream, cold cheese, and I think it was supposed to be guacamole but the only taste I could recognize was green chiles and it was green! However, the redeeming food was the flautas? They totally reminded me of Taco Time's crunchy burritos. You know what I'm talking about! They were actually really yummy even if the salsa and sour cream were garnished with peas. Honestly, we will go back just for those.
The night ended with a lovely series of television events. We watched The 100, American Idol, Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder. We haven't finished our other Thursday night shows so don't tell me! What did you do for this day? I would call ours a great success!

P.S. Another great success was i got to wear my birthday Tom's today! Yay! My ankleleg wasn't too swollen so I got to wear them in a bit. It's the little things right?

About 6 times a day I have this desire to write something awesome, something that will BREAK THE INTERNET. Is that even the right phrase? I want to do What Kim Kardashian didn't. Something about vaccines! or yoga pants! Or Kanye! or valentines day!
Instead I will just tell you about my bout with this cold that is going around. I can't hear, I can't smell, I can't taste and I can't breathe. Its awesome! I have tried all the things. Oils and nasal spray and cough medicine and cough drops and fresh air and I'm still not better. I am a little teeny bit over it. Well a lot. I blame Nevie. She had it first. Poor thing. Only she had croup. Also, I'd like to insert here that Jackson had Pertussis even though he was vaccinated. It was awhile ago, don't worry. Also, croup is different than Pertussis. Did you know that? It's taking every thing I have in my to not say what I want to say about vaccines. So I will totally write a post about it. I think you'll be surprised at what I have to say. It's not what you think. Anyway, you can't sit with me because I'm sick.
I officially booked tickets for 3 friends and I to go see T Swift in Cologne. I know. I'm pretty sure I'll be seeing her before my friends in the states will. Europe is so ahead. Haha. Get it? Cause we are in the sense of time?
Also, my 2 bff's are on their way here right now. Like to my country. And I am so excited. Aside from my blood family, these people are my family. I last heard at 8 this morning that they were boarding their last flight to Germany! Yay! I can't wait for you to meet them.
Did you know All The TeeVee has started again? I'm super happy that too. My timehop's from the last few days, over the last few years have been filled with posts about T.V.. Usually The Bachelor. But Scandal is on, and so is Grey's, and so is State of Affairs. For a sicky like me, it's something to look forward to!

I remember when I used to write deep, poetic things about my real life. And somehow along the way I shied away from that, for fear of judgement let's be honest. However, today I was inspired. I want to have a go at it again.
Last night was my sisters 25th birthday. She lives with us here in Germany and she wanted to go out. 25 is a milestone you know. It's a quarter of a century! Anyway, we decided to go to a club called Crown.
We actually invited quite a few LDS people to join us, none of which could make it. The cool thing is though, that I think many of them would have come if it wasn't super last minute. I'm very thankful I'm living in a place with a few good women (and men).
For some reason though, there's an audience of LDS people I feel I need to justify my behavior to. I can't quite figure out why that is though. I feel like I need to confess my sins, or I worry they are going to think badly of me for going out on a Saturday night of all nights!
Because of the work I've done on myself, I realize this is non-progressive way of thinking and it stems from an internal belief about myself. However, if I'm being just regular, it eats at me.
So then I struggle with these thoughts of, well is going out bad? Or, do I go with, well it's so much fun! Truth is? There's no answer. It depends on who you are. For me, I am largely unaffected by worldly things such as clubs, r-rated movies, and swearing. There are people I know who are super duper sensitive to these things. And that's for them! I am grateful for a God who knows us so well individually.
Sitting in the fog filled room with blaring music and a large crowd of people who are not ethnically similar to me at all, is really fun. I LOVE people watching. I usually don't get to enjoy the sport as much when I go out because I'm too busy dancing the night away. However, with my condition, I was somewhat forced to sit back and watch. (I did dance one song!) I love people. I love their stories.I just love people. And I met SO many last night! There were the people from Hohenfels, and the ones that work at the PX and the Germans! I met three gay people last night, one of whom was dressed like a female (I have a picture with him. her?). Chelsi, remember the one couple? The one with the schlumping?
I've got a lot of work to do to get back to who I was before...well, everything. And for me, it starts with experiences like this. And, if nothing else, being around severely inebriated people only confirms my desire to not to drink even more. :-)
Happy 25th Sis! Thanks for giving me this opportunity to enrich my life.
Also, not to make this about me but, I sent this to my friend at the end of the night. So swollen!

I hate when I'm on a roll and then I stop rolling. Well, you know what I mean. Not that kind of rolling.
Anyway, I have been really busy with my broken leg, broken van, and broken heart. Just kidding about the last one. But it is a little broken over not being able to watch The Bachelor until next week. I started an online bracket group where we fill out forms and questions and have lots of fun. If you love The Franchise as much as I/we do, let me know and I'll totes add you to the group. Who are you voting for winning? Don't spoil it!
In other news, did I even tell you about the van? Yeah I did. Well they ended up considering it a total loss so we are in the market for a new vehicle. If you live in Germany, and know of one for cheep, please let me know. Yes cheep. It's a classy woman's spelling.
Chelsi and I are like getting swoll. Well, sort of. I have a lot of work to do on my ankle leg before I can go doing squats and what not. So we're starting with some light yoga, and in the meantime are watching what we eat. We don't count the popcorn.
Can someone plllleeeaasseee come tune my piano? Please. PLEASE. And then can someone teach my sweet Sadie a different song than Mary Had a Little Lamb? I will count for you tomorrow how many times she plays it. I try SO hard to be supportive because all I want is to encourage her talents but I can only handle it about 20 times before my brain wants to explode. Maybe I'll teach her the Titanic song I know (My Heart Will Go On). I was a hipster and learned the hard version. Not even the easy one.
We went and saw American Sniper. I'm not sure if I should be ashamed of that or not because it is "Rated R". However, i think I'm excluded from the rule because it is a military movie. And I was all shouting Hooah the whole time. Just kidding. But it was REALLY good. And really touching and I shed a few tears. Don't go see it if you aren't immune to the Eff word. Cause there's a lot of that. I used to use this site called screenit.com back in the day. I just checked and it's just as ghetto as it used to be 10 years ago. AND I cant even view the review for the movie because they charge now? Wow. Way to be lame. I secretly love movies like this because it ignites the sense of pride in my heart I have over being a part of the military community. It's even more awesome because before EVERY movie they play in the theatre, they show the Star Spangled Banner which is awesome. Everyone stands. It's video of everything Graf. I love it.
I'm also wondering if someone can send me All The Things. So far I have figured out I can't get: cardstock (at least in 8.5 by 11), Garnier Cleansing Oil face wash, El Pato, Trader Joes candied pecans and my Moroccan oil hair cream. And Target dollar bins. Definitely can't get those. Anyway, I need a stateside personal shopper slash assistant. Mom? just kidding. She already does all of it for me anyway.
Well that's really all for now. Just a little updatey. What's the one thing you can't live without on a semi-regular basis?

I'm pretty sure the last time I did this, it was in the month of March. Sad. I'd like to be more mmm.... what's the word....regular with these posts because I think they're fun. And I'm not trendy. These are just things I pretend are trendy and I plan on making trendy with my far reaching popularity. Oh wait. Haha.
Anyway December was easy peasy because I received a gift certificate for my Birthday to Sephora and therefore bought All the Trendy Things. Well some of them. The others are just things I like. Here we go, 7 of the Things of 2014 slash 2015
1) Sephora Age defy eye cream
2) Buxom lip everything.
I got a pack of several but that's because this was my pent-up desire for them, exploding in the form of a box of 6. I've wanted some of these for years. Not only did my bestie send me 2, I also got 6 more and they weren't even the same color, I'm pretty sure I can die happy. My lips are as plump as ever. Or at least they feel that way. And that's good enough. I'm digging the nudest pink that has color but doesn't appear as if it does. Best.
3) Poncho's.
I live in Germany. It's winter. I'm always hot. As in temperature wise. Therefore a poncho is the perfect pick for a person like me. Easy on, easy off, I can flap it around and get some air circulation. Perfectomundo.
4) My boot, or boots in general. Ha
Specifically moto's. Did you even know those were a thing? I didn't. I had to ask a girl what they were called. I just know I've been eyeing them since forever and although they may be going out of season, they're not going out of my season. Bring on January and February Germany. I just hope by then I'll be able to wear both. And not just one.
5) L'oreal's Infallible Eye Color. I purchased this a bit ago but didn't show it a lot of love until today. And David already commented on how he liked my eye makeup and asked if that's how I always do it. I guess I've never given an all over shimmer the time of day. I also purchased another Sephora pallete (see number 6) which includes a shimmer they suggest putting as a top coat kind of thing. I guess it's' back!
6) The Sephora All Access Glam gold and silver eye and face palette. It's a mouthful. It's kind of a great mix and the mirror is big and awesome although I won't be needing it as much since my main man got me a vanity for Christmas. How thoughtful right? Considering my condition. ha!
7)The Casual Vacancy
Because I'm behind the times. David got me this for my birthday. I can't believe I've never read it. I have read her Robert Galbraith book (the first one) but not this one. Have you read it? Did you like it?
What else are you loving right now?

1) Sephora Age defy eye cream
First on my list was an eye cream. I think back through my childhood and although I think I did a pretty good job at protecting my skin for a young person (11-14 years old) living in Mesa Arizona with a pool in her back yard, I wish I would have done just a little better. With that being said, my skin is not as resilient as it used to be and I'm looking for products to ease the pain of age. Therefore I'm trying out what makes the number one spot on my list.

I took a picture you guys. And this is after over 9 hours of wear. And obviously my everything else has worn off. I'm impressed. Cause I tend to get creasing if I don't use a primer.

The computer was staring at me. Sounds cray right? I'm sitting here, just trying to enjoy my show (a smutty one). There it sat. I couldn't look at anything else. So here I am. Watching the show and writing.
I live in Germany. Still sounds so weird. Doesn't register as real in my brain yet.
I can't yet confirm or deny that my man is not here right now. My super nice neighbor totally validated me in saying how I have everything big happening to me at one time. This is our first duty station, it's overseas, and my boyfriend is getting deployed. Early on!
The good news is I get to reward myself/our family with a trip to Greece or maybe Spain. I know right? Do you want to be mad at me right now?
I remember when I used to be witty. If you go back to any of my old posts circa 2008ish... I was good. I want to get back to that place. David and I discussed our writing aspirations. I told him I'm fully supportive of him being a full time writer. Really. He is so good. Have you read his stuff? This is the blog he kept the summer he was in China. I was the one who posted them for him and I can't believe the comments I got from people regarding the quality of his writing. It's kind of overwhelming. His song writing and his word writing. I get a teeny bit angry when I think about it too much.
My life right now is not necessarily worth writing about. at least in this moment. It's now Wednesday afternoon, one child is still in pajamas, 2 kids' don't have their hair combed and I'm pretty sure the only thing we have been eating is the cheap version of Cinnamon Toast Crunch out of glass jars. Classy style. We also have been watching Pingu all day. Have you seen it? It's so funny! Sadie figured out that "Boitchen" meas no in Pingu. Haha! She's smart.
also, I can't capitalize a. I think I told you that last time though.
.
It's a cold blistery day here in Weiden, Germany. Did you know that Germany is smaller than Montana but bigger than New Mexico? That's crazy. It seems so huge. There's so much to see here!
I need to watch Friends and I'm pretty sure I have no seasons on DVD. I might just go check. I can't even watch it on Hulu. Or Netflix. Or amazon Prime. I mean really?
What are some of your other favorite shows? I'm looking to fulfil the spot of "teen drama". I've watched Gossip Girl, 90210, The O.C., and I haven't finished One Tree Hill. That's it. I've gotta go.

You know how I have that thing over there ---------> where it says labels? Or maybe it's down there (except I don't know how to make a down arrow). It's what I'm loathing and or loving. I've decided to do a post today about that. But it's mostly just things I'm loving.
This Song:
I wish I could claim it. But I saw it on a popular TV show I was watching. And then I immediately went and bought his EP which doesn't have this song but has really good other ones.
This Product:
My sisters got me some for my birthday along with the regular Moroccan Oil. And it's freaking awesome. It's the best product I've ever had for my hair.
This Color Combo:
This is via Pinterest but I don't know how to show the Pin. lol. Do you think this could be a timeless color combo? The peach and mint? I'm not sure. But I LOVE it!

This Couch:
Have you seen/heard of these? You can move them around 100 different ways. This fits my personality so well because I get tired of the same thing after awhile. So switching my couch up sounds SO fun! Check out the Love Sac Sactional site. It's worth a look. And worth the dream!
That's all. It's not actually a lot of trendy things. I just pretend. haha. Can you tell me where to get a reasonably priced couch that is comfy and made well? We need one. Somehow I can't justify 5 grand on a couch right now (that's what THAT configuration of a Sactional would cost). Help!

Not only did this happen, it happened as I was pulling up to the gate at Fort Huachuca. Not only did it happen as I was pulling up to the gate at Fort Huachuca, it happened as I was blasting Missed Calls by Mac Miller. Edited of course. Boo. I had to turn it down at the very best part.
Guess what else? I got picked for a random car inspection!!! Yay! Wait, what? No. They totally segregated me and had me pull into the lane that was next to the long line of other cars so easily going through the gate after their ID check. Smooth sailing for them. I hope they enjoyed gawking at my beautiful red hair because I was totally trying to hide my face.
If we think about the details of what happened in the picture above, and if they were counting cars, then technically that rood person in front of me would have been picked for the selection instead of me. And the funny thing is I was totally going to be the person that sped up and didn't let them in. Because 2 stoplights back from where the line is for the gate, you can see which lanes are open. So I'm a freak and get in the right lane WAY back so as not to avoid the awkwardness that happens when people don't. pay. attention and they're stuck begging for mercy at the very last freakin second.
So I was just stopped. By myself. They checked my license, my military ID, my insurance, my registration and checked for drugs and other paraphernalia. They also patted me down. Just kidding. About the pat down anyway.
I'm exhausted from all of that hard work. I made it up to myself and listened to this song on the Eminem CD I own. This song actually made me cry. I couldn't find a good version to share. So I guess you'll be left wondering. Sorry about your life. If I can find it, I'll share it on the Facebook of life. In the meantime, don't be a lame driver please? Me and your fellow drivers will appreciate it so much!

Well there isn't one yet because we are living in between homes.
BUT! I have one.
First I'd like to preface this post saying this is a rebuttal for the somewhat viral post on how awful elves on the shelf are. If you aren't Mormon, then you are less likely to have read it. But you can because it has nothing to do with the church. And she is a hilarious writer. It's worth a read. Anyway, you can read it or you can not read it. It doesn't really have anything to do with my thoughts except towards the end where some of my complete bewilderment in the form of rage comes out.
The story goes something like this:
Remember how last year the hype started with the elves on the shelves? I remember seeing pictures all over the interwebs, mostly on Facebook, with pictures of naughty elves doing crazy things! I loved seeing the pictures. It made my smile and then frown because I didn't have one. I was a little jealous.
SO! I got one.
It was an after-Christmas special at Hastings. Because it was no longer the season for the elf, I put him away on a shelf in a box. I still haven't opened it.
And I've never read the book. And probably never will.
But we will participate in elf happiness. Because it's meant to be fun!
As a child I remember an elf being a part of our holiday décor. It was probably an original because he was old and frayed and still creepy as ever. I always thought he was an ugly little bugger. And I wondered what he was doing. He looked so out of place what with his crazy eyes. BUT he was there every year. And I believe I even saw him last year at my moms house in her entertainment center. She never read us the book though, we were not persuaded to be good because of the elf. He didn't shred toilet paper, or spill milk or do other such things. He was there as a decoration and now as an adult, I'm sure for nostalgia on the part of my mom, and for me too.
Therefore, I am going to implement an elf in our house. We don't have many traditions yet and I think this will be a fun one. I am way too lazy to even create a board on Pinterest dedicated to elf ideas but I might move him around from time to time. And I might even use him as an excuse to get my kids to behave better.
About that. You're telling me you've NEVER used the "Santa will bring you coal if you don't behave?" If you haven't, then maybe you're the bad parent as the author so slyly accused us of. You're not doing your job, if you don't use Christmas/Jesus/Hanukah as a reason for your kids to behave during this holiday season. There I said it. And I'm joking. But it kind of sounds legit right?
Because if you don't then you're just giving kids crap for being what? Being alive? Yeah right. Christmas is TOTALLY a time to get the best behaviour out of your kids when the rest of year there's nothing else to hang over their heads. Hahahaha. I totally hate myself for saying that. And I don't believe it. But I do think this is a special time of year specifically for the reason that kids seem to have good manners and do good deeds because even if you aren't inundating them with threats of Santa not coming, the rest of the world is. You're kid gets asked all the time if he or she is being good. It's happening to them at school, and at the grocery store and at Church.
According to the author, here are some logical tidbits about the Elf on the Shelf
What does this teach kids?
I'm not prepared at this time to go into how much I REALLY disagree with all of those statements. Except for the Twilight one. That's super funny. But I'd like to know what you think. So please share.
I hope you've read the article by now. Because this is where I'm totally baffled and I'd like to refute a few of the articles other statements. Well first she says, "Be the magic yourself."
I'd like to use this in favor of doing an elf on the shelf if you have one. The Elf is a totally easy and lazy way to create magic at your house.
And then there's this statement, "The minutes you would have spent on a prank are so much better spent with your child." And then she lists some really great ideas for using those minutes. The thing is though, I'm pretty sure the Elf does his business when the kids are asleep. Otherwise, what's the point? And I'm pretty sure I don't want my kids up at 10 o'clock catching snowflakes or drinking liquid sugar.
I'm not encouraging you moms and dads to add more to your plate, but I am encouraging you to think outside the box. You don't have to do cray cray things with the elf. Maybe you could implement alternative ideas for the Elf on the Shelf.
These are all completely non-elf related. Which is totally a possibility! I think I might incorporate some of these with the elf. Possible!
Or if you need a good reason to tell your kids why there's no Elf, you could tell this story. Pretty hilarious.
Anyway, this is the end of me on my soapbox. I know that I am but one, and this is one's opinion. Please share yours too!

According to the author, here are some logical tidbits about the Elf on the Shelf
What does this teach kids?
- It teaches them that there is an authority outside of parents and the Lord over the home.
- It teaches them that we behave for extrinsic reasons.
- It teaches them that good behavior is a commodity to bargain with.
- Kids learn that the Elf may be naughty but expects goodness.
- Not unimportantly, it follows up the dreadful message from Twitlight that it is perfectly acceptable for some creature to come to your house and watch you sleep if they claim that it is for your benefit.
- It teaches children that some unseen bad behavior has no negative impact.
- It teaches them that there must be ever-escalating entertainment and novelty.
- And scariest of all, it teaches children that parents are so unsure of themselves that they must employ a little leverage.

I love this idea. This family loves reading. So every day the kids will wake up and the Elf will be near/on/around a different book! Fun!
This really crafty mom created this Calendar that includes good ideas for the Elf on the Shelf. Service ideas! No naughtiness! See! It can be done!
