There was this meme video on Facebook that I didn't get to watch because it was late at night when I scrolled by it, and was in bed, and my volume was way up. So you can imagine my surprise when it was SO loud. I had to shut if off. Anyway, it was a video demonstrating the difference between 50 degrees in March versus 50 degrees in November. Totally describes this day!

Got up early to go to the flea market. The first one of the season! I had my friend Dana with me and i made her do all my bidding/haggling for me because she speaks the German! She's a good one.

Not pictured: leggins for Sadie, and a truffle stand

David took the kids on a walk with the neighbors (We love the Mannings!) and I stayed home to be alone. I got basic and laid out on the trampoline and freaking soaked up that sun! My ankle leg is doing well thanks for asking. I still think about it a lot. I also told David I'm having phantom pains. Haha. He asked if I was an amputee. I am not, but you know what I mean right? Like where I'm not sure if there is real pain or if my brain/body is just making it up.

The blue sky in March. It's amazing.
After Chelsi got back from the walk, we decided to go downtown for the Mittefastenmarkt in Weiden which, from my research is a celebration of sorts, of it being the middle of Lent. It was by far the biggest market I have been to but I also missed out on all the Christmas markets this last year. Can I please talk about the Pakistanian I met there? I stopped at a cheap purse stand and the salesman was making small talk. He asked where I was from and I of course said I was from The U.K. Oh wait. Anyway, I then asked where he was from and he told me he lived here but was from Pakistan. He told me his house got blown up. I mean, he even made gestures with his hands. It was intense and I felt awkward. What does one say to that? It was terribly sad and I felt bad so I said sorry. Ha. and then I called Chelsi to meet up.

I freaking LOVE Weiden. It's SO picturesque like all the time!

The lines for ALL of the gelato places were SO long! People want their first Eis of the season!

They've been working on this for awhile. Finally there aren't rafters everywhere. It's so pretty!

Anyway, this was a particularly amazing day. I felt like a new person with all of the sunshine. I kept checking my phone, swearing the weather on the screen was wrong. Because 50 degrees in March really  feels like 80.

You've heard the hype, you've probably seen an ad or two in your newsfeed. You've heard the drama about this movie. The New York Times says the film ",,,displays enough nutty writing and sheer brio to confirm the stamina of its enduring and skillfully voiced characters." We figured since it is Valentines Day we should go see something appropriate to the holiday. So we went and we watched the new Spongebob movie.

I kind of secretly hate this holiday because it offends my crunchy granola heart but then I ALWAYS give in the commercialism. Even when I'm in one of  the least commercial (it seems) country. I totally bought presents for the people in my house. But they weren't heart shaped chocolates or pink. Wait, yes some of them were. But anyway, I did put thought into them. Does that count? And I also was on the receiving end. David and the kids made me the most adorable card I've ever experienced. I promise. He went through the effort of buying two different kinds of paper (one of them was gold!) and they freaking cut hearts out of the red paper. They glued it, they colored it, they wrote in it, and my heart is so full. Nevermind the candy and the flowers... which are also awesome, it's totally the thought that counts. David was telling me tonight that he told Jackson not to draw "boy hearts". And Jackson wondered what those were. So he told Jackson and Sadie both to draw a heart and after that it was pretty clear what a boy heart is.

So then we just spent the day together. We were planning on having a grand adventure and were thinking the train, an overnight stay somewhere, etc. We took an exceptionally long time getting ready and by the time we left, we were tired. So we decided to surprise the kids with the movie! They were thrilled and we were relieved. After that we drove up to Parkstein (my new favorite place) and took in the awesome albeit cold view. The sun was shining and the sky was a pinkish purple for a minute. It reminded me of Paulden America and although my hands were freezing, my soul was warm. I take for granted spending time with my little family. We don't get a lot of time together because there are always things happening. And even when we are altogether, it's never for very long. So this extended moment was really great.

We came home and Chelsi graciously offered to keep the kids while we went to eat. We drove across the street to a "Mexican" restaurant. I apologize my dear Germans for the quotes. You don't deserve it, but you kind of do. As an Arizonan, I'm afraid you don't know how to do Mexican. However, you tried!

We had Nachos Supreme. They were basically spicy Doritos, with 4! different! dips! There was the mayo (yes mayo), sour cream, cold cheese, and I think it was supposed to be guacamole but the only taste I could recognize was green chiles and it was green! However, the redeeming food was the flautas? They totally reminded me of Taco Time's crunchy burritos. You know what I'm talking about! They were actually really yummy even if the salsa and sour cream were garnished with peas. Honestly, we will go back just for those.

The night ended with a lovely series of television events. We watched The 100, American Idol, Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder. We haven't finished our other Thursday night shows so don't tell me! What did you do for this day? I would call ours a great success!

P.S. Another great success was i got to wear my birthday Tom's today! Yay! My ankleleg wasn't too swollen so I got to wear them in a bit. It's the little things right?

I remember when I used to write deep, poetic things about my real life. And somehow along the way I shied away from that, for fear of judgement let's be honest. However, today I was inspired. I want to have a go at it again.

Last night was my sisters 25th birthday. She lives with us here in Germany and she wanted to go out. 25 is a milestone you know. It's a quarter of a century! Anyway, we decided to go to a club called Crown.

We actually invited quite a few LDS people to join us, none of which could make it. The cool thing is though, that I think many of them would have come if it wasn't super last minute. I'm very thankful I'm living in a place with a few good women (and men).

For some reason though, there's an audience of LDS people I feel I need to justify my behavior to. I can't quite figure out why that is though. I feel like I need to confess my sins, or I worry they are going to think badly of me for going out on a Saturday night of all nights!

Because of the work I've done on myself, I realize this is non-progressive way of thinking and it stems from an internal belief about myself. However, if I'm being just regular, it eats at me.

So then I struggle with these thoughts of, well is going out bad? Or, do I go with, well it's so much fun! Truth is? There's no answer. It depends on who you are. For me, I am largely unaffected by worldly things such as clubs, r-rated movies, and swearing. There are people I know who are super duper sensitive to these things. And that's for them! I am grateful for a God who knows us so well individually.

Sitting in the fog filled room with blaring music and a large crowd of people who are not ethnically similar to me at all, is really fun. I LOVE people watching. I usually don't get to enjoy the sport as much when I go out because I'm too busy dancing the night away. However, with my condition, I was somewhat forced to sit back and watch. (I did dance one song!) I love people. I love their stories.I just love people. And I met SO many last night! There were the people from Hohenfels, and the ones that work at the PX and the Germans! I met three gay people last night, one of whom was dressed like a female (I have a picture with him. her?).  Chelsi, remember the one couple? The one with the schlumping?

I've got a lot of work to do to get back to who I was before...well, everything. And for me, it starts with experiences like this. And, if nothing else, being around severely inebriated people only confirms my desire to not to drink even more. :-)

Happy 25th Sis! Thanks for giving me this opportunity to enrich my life.

Also, not to make this about me but,  I sent this to my friend at the end of the night. So swollen!

I hate when I'm on a roll and then I stop rolling. Well, you know what I mean. Not that kind of rolling.

Anyway, I have been really busy with my broken leg, broken van, and broken heart. Just kidding about the last one. But it is a little broken over not being able to watch The Bachelor until next week. I started an online bracket group where we fill out forms and questions and have lots of fun. If you love The Franchise as much as I/we do, let me know and I'll totes add you to the group. Who are you voting for winning? Don't spoil it!

In other news, did I even tell you about the van? Yeah I did. Well they ended up considering it a total loss so we are in the market for a new vehicle. If you live in Germany, and know of one for cheep, please let me know. Yes cheep. It's a classy woman's spelling.

Chelsi and I are like getting swoll. Well, sort of. I have a lot of work to do on my ankle leg before I can go doing squats and what not. So we're starting with some light yoga, and in the meantime are watching what we eat. We don't count the popcorn.

Hashtag Meal Prep

Can someone plllleeeaasseee come tune my piano? Please. PLEASE. And then can someone teach my sweet Sadie a different song than Mary Had a Little Lamb? I will count for you tomorrow how many times she plays it. I try SO hard to be supportive because all I want is to encourage her talents but I can only handle it about 20 times before my brain wants to explode. Maybe I'll teach her the Titanic song I know (My Heart Will Go On). I was a hipster and learned the hard version. Not even the easy one.

Nevie loves falling asleep like this

We went and saw American Sniper. I'm not sure if I should be ashamed of that or not because it is "Rated R". However, i think I'm excluded from the rule because it is a military movie. And I was all shouting Hooah the whole time. Just kidding. But it was REALLY good. And really touching and I shed a few tears. Don't go see it if you aren't immune to the Eff word. Cause there's a lot of that. I used to use this site called screenit.com back in the day. I just checked and it's just as ghetto as it used to be 10 years ago. AND I cant even view the review for the movie because they charge now? Wow. Way to be lame. I secretly love movies like this because it ignites the sense of pride in my heart I have over being a part of the military community. It's even more awesome because before EVERY movie they play in the theatre, they show the Star Spangled Banner which is  awesome. Everyone stands.  It's video of everything Graf. I love it.

I'm also wondering if someone can send me All The Things. So far I have figured out I can't get: cardstock (at least in 8.5 by 11), Garnier Cleansing Oil face wash, El Pato, Trader Joes candied pecans and my Moroccan oil hair cream. And Target dollar bins. Definitely can't get those. Anyway, I need a stateside personal shopper slash assistant. Mom? just kidding. She already does all of it for me anyway.

Well that's really all for now. Just a little updatey. What's the one thing you can't live without on a semi-regular basis?

It was such a good day! And almost a regular one but there were a couple of things that made it stand out from the other days.

This is one.

I wish this was not blurry.

So this part is the big deal! I am wearing jeans! And shoes! And i got ready. I wasn't meaning to have the big giant 80's hair. But I'm owning it. And it worked today because it was suuuppper windy!  Anyway, I went to the doctor on Thursday and was told I didn't have to do my boot anymore but that I still needed to walk with crutches and only put half my weight on it. Then in 2 weeks I can put my full weight and then when that is over, I can be normal. Except when in a year (or in Novemberish) I do this all over again and get my plate and screws out. Holy cow. What a recovery. I'm pretty sure this is making up for all the times I didn't break my bone in my younger life.

Also, this building is called the Kloster Speinshart or monastery. Built in the 1100's. It's beautiful! And the bathrooms are awesome. Let's be honest. It's important. Anyway, I hope you come visit me so we can take you here.
