| I told Ian that this is what I wanted before we left. This picture. |
It's weird to even write those words "we moved to Italy". Who says that? Saying "we are moving to Germany" was strange but now we are telling people we are FROM Germany. Eeee. So fun.
We made it to our hotel and my life is so good. Because we have A/C. I mean, legit central A/C. I haven't been this happy since... well, I can't say.
There isn't much else to report.
Today is the next day. We went to the mall next door (do you remember those my Germany friends?). David quickly made friends with the people at the buffet we went to because they, and he speak mandarin.
We didn't make it through the whole mall because it is so big! The kids were itching to go swimming so we went to the most Wal-Mart-like store I've seen since Tesco in the UK. I mean things were organized by category and not just randomly placed next to each other (I'm talking to you Kaufland). It was pretty lovely. We walked away with swimming items and a new cooler to take with us this weekend when we head to the beach that's close to us. Omg. Do you hate me?
Maybe you shouldn't hate me too much because the WiFi is lacking here. Haha! First world problems am I right? It's also a very open network and we can't use our Unblock-Us. This is very sad because I'm missing Big Brother and David and I have not yet been able to watch The Season Finale of that show. You know which one I'm talking about.
Once again, I'd like to extend an invitation to come visit us. The door to our not-yet-known house is open. We might not have great WiFi but we WILL have Italian food. Are you packing your bags???

So many things are transpiring soon. Is transpiring a word? I don't have enough internet to Google that right now so we are going with it.
In a couple of days, my sister who has been living with me for a long time is leaving. I am having crazy anxiety about it. She's my partner, my sister wife! Not really, but that's kind of what it's felt like during all of the times when David has left. She arrived shortly after we did and saved me from myself. My anxiety was high back then and went away after she got here. She's my bestie! Not only is she leaving now, we are also moving! I won't say when and I will say where: Italy. Remember when we originally thought that's where we were going? I refound a scrapbook where I had written about and then crossed out our PCS move to

I'm finding it quite difficult to function. Not only are my physical symptoms pretty bad (general shakiness, upset stomach, diarrhea) but my mental state isn't super either. I am on the brink of tears but haven't yet let them out. I'm afraid if I do, I won't stop for days. I have places to be and things to do so that can't happen. Yet. I'll wait for a late night and/or a hot shower. lolz.
I think I'm writing about this because I want to end the stigma of mental health issues. My sister shared this website and it really got me to thinking about the whole taboo surrounding behavioral health. I've talked about my depression before, but I don't know that I've talked as much about my situational anxiety. I'm sure I'm not the only one I know that struggles with it. I've talked to my doctor(s) about it and I feel pretty confident with how I'm handling it so far.
Phew. This was actually just supposed to be an informational post about our upcoming move but thus, it turned into this. I've got to get back to my roots in blogging.
In other happy news, I got my nails done in Cheb. I call them my mermaid nails. I haven't yet taken a picture because I have plans for the picture. I need more sunshine and someone to help me though so you'll have to wait. Did you know they have the best Corn Flake chicken at this restaurant in Cheb? It's muy delicioso. It's in a cellar which makes it even cooler. Plus, that sweet chili sauce though. So if you're ever in the Czech Republic near the border of Germany, this is the place to go.
Also, Sadie lost her front tooth. It was so stressful. She was crying and so upset even before it came out. She has a fear of growing up. So do I. It's so cute though. I love the small lisp that accompanies a missing front tooth. I also love this girl. She is so amazingly thoughtful. Almost on the daily she writes me a note or draws me a picture of some kind. Warms my heart.

Family is big on my mind these days maybe for less obvious reasons than you know. However, that's not important. What is important is the realization I had the other day about my uncle. He taught me everything I know about everything cool!
My paternal grandma and my mom were pregnant at the same time. So my older sister and my uncle are the same age which was and is really fun. I had 2 working parents so as a school-aged child I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time at my grandma's house. Eric (this uncle), who was older at the time, was the only one home during this period of life. My aunt Amy had a room there too I think, but she was away in NYC or somewhere else exotic. Plus, her room was off limits. Lol.
The other day I was at my friends house and she had a newer Archie comic book and I swear I traveled right back in time to my uncle's room where he had stacks of comics (Dick Tracy or Mad anyone?). I would read when he wasn't home. I wasn't always sneaky. He was often really nice and would willingly let me borrow his stuff. He always let me play his Sega and Nintendo which in turn prompted me to ask Santa for one. I got a Sega Genesis and Sonic the Hedgehog became my best friend.
I've never given any meaning to my love of Hot Wheels cars until now really. My uncle had quite the collection. My most favorite game, and still is, is to park them in rows so perfectly and so neatly. Then I would remove one car and another one would come park in its spot.
When we got together as an extended family and lots of other cousins came (the perks of living in Utah and being Mormon), we would often play Ghostbusters in the basement. Eric, my sister, Andy and Dusty always got first pick of who they would be because they were older. Lame. Laundry detergent turned into ghost repellent, and hockey sticks became weapons.
Posters of Hulk Hogan and Karl Malone hung on his wall and because of that (and watching fights/games), I know who those people are. We also played basketball video games so I gleaned some knowledge there.
As I grew older, his interests shifted, as did mine. I remember the era of Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey and The Duet. It was obvious who would sing which part.
I remember the first time I saw that part in the first Scream movie that makes you wanna vomit. I was way too young to be watching it. But my uncle, who was obviously looking out for me, fast-forwarded through most of the movie which was on VHS of course, and only showed me the most scary parts.
We moved away and only came back to visit sometimes and when we did, it was always the same amount of fun with him. We have continued to wrestle our way through the years and play just as hard. I miss him and these memories.
